Rodrigo
Senior Engineer, SIMCO Ionization for Electronics Manufacture
|
| January’s
volunteer spotlight is Richard Rodrigo. Rodrigo is a member of the ESD
Association and the current chair of the Ionization Committee. He has
chaired the Ionization Committee for the past nine years and been a
member of this committee for 16 years. During this time, he has had
the honor of working with the committee on standards and published papers
related to the testing of static eliminating equipment.
|
|
| Educational and professional background |
| Rodrigo is a Pennsylvania native and earned
his bachelor's degree (BSMET) from Spring Garden College, Philadelphia,
PA in 1989. |
| |
| Currently
a senior engineer at SIMCO Ionization for Electronics Manufacture, Rodrigo
has worked in various capacities in the engineering department of Simco
for 24 years. During this time, he has been assigned 12 patents on a
variety of static eliminating and contamination control (cleaning) equipment.
|
| |
| Personal information, interests, and
hobbies |
Rodrigo
is married and lives with his wife, eight year old son, and six year
old daughter, in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. The family keeps him busy,
so hobbies these days are mostly home and car improvements and maintenance.
Rodrigo enjoys technical history, reading about it or visiting sites
of historical technical significance. He serves on the Chalfont Zoning
Hearing Board. |
| |
| While he acknowledges that his achievements
may be minor in nature, Rodrigo is quietly proud of how his efforts have
a small but positive affect on family, work and community. |

Benefits
of being an ESDA volunteer |
| Volunteering for the ESDA has allowed Rodrigo
to contribute to the field of static control beyond equipment design and
development. At first, he found chairing the Ionization Committee to be
challenging, but with time his confidence grew. This confidence “spilled
over” into other areas of his life both professional and personal,
helping him to rise to greater challenges at work and at home. |
