As attendees, exhibitors, and commit- tees coped with the extraordinary events of September 11, various Symposium and Association committees worked fever- ishly behind the scenes to reduce ob- stacles for attendees. A record number of technical papers covered the latest developments in the area, including the emerging topics of RF ESD design and transmission line puls- ing. Authors answered probing questions from the audience andmet in the authors’ corners for further discussion. Attendees visited the booths of more than 100 exhibitors of ESD control prod- ucts and services. Workshops and tutorials offered edu- cation and the opportunity to share expe- riences and obtain answers to specific problems. Tak H. Ning from IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research center provided attend- ees with crystal ball look at the future of silicon device technologies. And, during breaks in the Symposium activity and between visits to the exhib- its, attendees dealt with changing travel plans, sought news of friends and rela- tives, and checked the events of the week.
